What To Wear On Summer Vacation

We're in the heat of summer now, which means summer vaca is in full swing! If you haven't already, most likely, you will be heading off on some version of a summer vacation. As much fun as it is to travel to new places and visiting with friends and family, vacationing can come with its own stress. One thing that I always struggle with is packing. There is something about trying to plan ahead for every day of vacation, with unknown weather situations, that usually gets me in a bit of a panic. Don't fret, I'm going to provide you with a few tips to make your vacation preparation go a little more smoothly.

First off, it begins with good planning. Just like the vacation itself, clothing needs to be planned out to. Start with making a list of the days you will be there and specific activities that you will be doing on those days. This will help you assess what type of outfit will be appropriate for which day.

Second, find outfits that are light weight and don't take up a lot of space. One great way to do this is to pack lots of dresses. Sundresses are a great way to make your vacation wardrobe easy and cute. They don't require much thought, just deciding which one to wear on which day. Throw on some cute accessories, sandals and you are set. Find dresses that are cotton or knit, which allow for breath-ability, and also won't wrinkle as quickly as other fabrics.

Here are a few of my favorites. Pack dresses that can easily transition from day time to evening activites so you don't have to change during the day.

If you're not much of a dress gal, cute, lightweight tops are another easy packing plan. Make sure when selecting tops, that they are versatile with the bottoms you have with you. For example, switching from shorts to skinnies in the evening for weather changes helps keep the number of tops you bring to a minimum. Also, watch your fabric content. You don't want to bring tops that will wrinkle easily, especially when access to an iron or a dryer is limited.

One of the easiest ways to conserve space and weight in your suitcase is by minimizing your denim. You don't need a new pair of shorts for each day. Find bottoms that can coordinate with multiple tops. Denim is versatile and can be worn for many different looks. Also, just pack one pair of your favorite skinnies for those cooler evenings.

Once the sun goes down it can get chilly, especially when you've been in the sun all day. So be sure to pack a cardigan or two. This is another easy way to change up an outfit or a dress. You can add variety to your wardrobe just by layering.

Packing for vacation can be tough. I am notorious for over-packing. But hopefully with some of these tips, you won't have that problem and it can make your vacation preparation a bit easier. Then you can simply sit back and relax!

Happy Vacationing!
