June Style

Happy June 1st!  Here in chilly South Bend, Indiana it doesn't feel much like summer... but we Flourish Girls are hoping that since it is officially June now, the warm weather HAS to follow right behind!  (Positive thinking never hurt anyone, right?!)  One of the best things about hot summer days, is the cute fashion you get to wear!  Below are some cute and affordable ideas for when the temps are high and you need to keep cool without sacrificing your style!

Rompers
Rompers are a great way to keep cool but still look super stylish all summer long.  They can slip right over your swimsuit or be dressed up for a date night with a little jewelry and some cute wedges: either way if you chose the right fabrics and styles you can stay cool and comfy!

Our Vertical Jump Romper is a perfect example: the fabric is silky smooth and the sleeveless style makes this stylish romper the perfect choice for even the hottest of summer days!  Click here to shop this cute style now!

Vertical Jump Romper, available at www.FlourishBoutique.com

Another ideal option for steamy June days is our Daisy Chain Romper.  This all white style features tiny straps with little embroidered daisy motifs, and the light fabric and white color will keep you feeling breezy and beautiful even while you're out in the sun!  Click here to grab this hot seller before it's gone forever!

Maxi Dresses
Another summer friendly style option is the maxi dress!  These all in one pieces are so easy to make outfits with: no need to pick out coordinating separates when you opt for a maxi-dress!  Many come in sleeveless versions with light, breathable fabrics, making them the perfect solutions to sticky hot summer days.

Our Teal the Show Maxi Dress is a perfect summer ready maxi dress.  With it's puckered strapless style you could pull this on up over your bikini and wear with sandals while browsing around beach front towns.  But if you're headed to a wedding or dressier event, stay cool but look fabulous when you add sparkling jewelry, a clutch bag, and heels to this lace accented dress.  Click here to add this to your shopping cart!

Crop Tops
Another summer friendly fashion, making a huge comeback is the crop top.  Whether you pair it with high waisted cut offs or a long maxi skirt, the crop top is an ideal option for hot summer days.  It's cute and casual but keeps unneeded hot fabric at a minimum at the same time.  Best for pool/beach days or concerts and festivals, cute crop tops are a new favorite at Flourish Boutique.

Our Just a Spot Crop Top is light weight and adorable for summer fashion.  Click here to grab one in your size now!

The Big Reveal......Flourish IS On the MOVE!

Dear Flourish Fans;

It is with tremendous excitement that we formally announce: Flourish is relocating into a new space inside Centennial Place, which will DOUBLE our square footage and inventory offerings!

After weeks of keeping it hush hush, we can finally let you all in on our secret!  We are indeed moving our store.  Come the end of February or maybe the beginning of March, you won't find Flourish at 16021 Cleveland Rd anymore....our new home will be at 213 W. Cleveland Rd, Granger, In 46530.  We will be located in the same complex as Chico's, Talbots, and the new and ever popular Gigi's Cupcakes!   Our new space is HUGE and we cannot wait to launch a new version of Flourish for you all: with much more inventory and many upgrades for your shopping experience!  (Read on for more details)

A Schematic for what The COMING SOON FLOURISHwill look like!

For some time now, we have been growing so rapidly that we were truly outgrowing the space we have had for almost five years in the historic house at the corner of Cleveland Rd and Main St.  This fall the outgrowing became undeniable.  We outgrew the space in every way, and all at once: when inventory arrived in boxes it overflowed our back room, when we got busy our parking had to overflow to lots across the street, we found that we didn't have enough dressing rooms, we didn't have enough check out stations, and our web team grew from 2 to 6 people all operating out of one tiny office.  Our photo shoots take place on a roll down backdrop which covered up the web processing counter during shoots (talk about maximizing space!).  Even our internet signal and phone lines were being overloaded and overused!  We have been simply bursting!  And, the truth is...we have YOU to thank!  We work hard to offer you great merchandise and great customer service...but we would be nothing without all of you and your tremendous support!  So thank-you, thank-you, thank-you for being such a loyal, supportive customer!

So, right as the realization began to dawn on me that we would need to move....something happened that made it clear, like a lightning bolt, that indeed a move was the right step forward.  On BLACK FRIDAY MORNING (yes the BUSIEST day of the whole year) I received a notice from our current land lord, letting me know that the land Flourish currently rests on had been sold to a developer and our lease was coming to an end.  As many of you know, while the land at our corner and the surrounding area has been sold, the historic home CANNOT be torn down and must be physically moved down the rd. somewhere.  While it might have been a nice thought or sentimental to consider staying with the house, and moving along with it down the road....the reality is that our business just has outgrown the house.  And with that letter (a clear sign from heaven), I knew and had 100% peace that Flourish was truly ready to move and expand.

After much deliberation and consideration, we settled on Centennial Place as our next home.  We love the historic charm, similar to the kind we have now, that the plaza has to offer.  It's right down the road from our current location and boasts much more parking, as well as easier ingress and egress for all of you, our wonderful customers.  Oh, and did we mention that we are excited about being next door to a cupcake store???!  Could be bad, lol!

While it is bittersweet to say goodbye to the historic house that we have been so blessed to occupy for 5 years...we are truly blessed in turn by this new space and opportunity as well.  Let me share with you some of the amazing things you can look forward to in our new space!  In addition to doubling our space and inventory, we will double our dressing room capacity from 3 to 6.  We will also now offer 3 checkout stations in store (instead of 2) AND we will have one in a back room so we can take more phone orders for your convenience!  We will be expanding our offerings of accessories and jewelry, stocking more sizes and variety of our clothes, adding some new designers, and increasing selection in things like spanx and layering tunics too!  Oh, did I mention we will have a whole shoe section?!  Other improvements behind the scenes will include a permanent and professional photo studio, more office space for our website team, more phone lines and much more.  What does all of this mean? Essentially that hat if you loved Flourish before, we are about to blow your mind with an EVEN BETTER shopping experience!  We hope you are excited, as we are, for the new and improved Flourish coming your way soon!

Owner, Vanessa, inside of the new Flourish space, which is currently being remodeled
Over the next month or two, we know you will have a lot of questions.  Feel free to message us on Facebook or comment on social media, etc anytime you have a question about the move.  Our goal, though, is that the move interrupt "business as usual" as little as possible.  In other words, we will be open online throughout the entire process and continue to ship and help you with orders as usual.  The store in our current location will stay open as well, until the very day we move and we will try to have as little down time as possible.  Other good news: we will be posting photos of the store move and new store renovations throughout the whole process, so that you are in the front seat for this exciting time!  We'd even love your input...let us know if there are designers you want at Flourish or anything you would love to see in our new store!

So, in sum, thank you for being an awesome customer and making this possible!  We can't wait to celebrate with you at our new store...and in the meantime make sure to come shop a time or two more at our sweet, historic house location...it's hard to believe soon it will be just a memory:)

XOXO, Vanessa

Mother's Day 2013 Was A Big Hit!

Well, Mother's Day 2013 is a wrap and we have to say we had a lot of fun here at Flourish Boutique celebrating everything mom!  We had some huge sales on new cute clothes and great deals on our clearance items as well.  It was a blast seeing so many of our wonderful customers in person at the boutique, as well as shipping out lots of orders from the weekend to our fans from all over the US as well!  Our most popular items from this weekend seemed to be chevron dresses, funky statement necklaces, our new cutoff shorts, and Ali Oesch Jewelry.  Hopefully if you stopped in you scored some great loot yourself!

But, my favorite part of how we celebrated Mother's Day at Flourish, was the extra special photo shoot we did.  We normally have two photo sessions per week where we photograph our new inventory on our regular models.  We decided a while back though to ask several sets of Mothers and Daughters to guest model for us and feature images and looks together!  Not only was this a blast to do with these special women, but I think it's a great testimony to how Flourish clothes really do work for a wide variety of ages and shapes.  Everyone of these women looked stunning, and you can see how much fun they were having too!

So here are some of our favorite images from our Mother Daughter photo shoots!
Left to Right: Dakota, mom Jamie, and Payton model Flourish looks from Designers Including

Intern-al Investigation!

Our store name, Flourish, was chosen not only because it could reference ornamentation on clothing, but also because it suggests a woman blossoming into the woman she is intended to be. We always aim to not only help women feel good on the outside, but also on the inside.  With that mission in mind, it makes sense that we would happily nurture interns here at Flourish, as it is a great way for our company to help women blossom and grow.  This past month, we were blessed to have an intern named Becca.

Becca, is a fashion student at Columbia College in Chicago.  During her time with us, she helped plan, style, and run the Deade-nt Fashion Show event and also helped establish relationships with bloggers all over the US.  She also did some great merchandising and assisted in a buying appointment, among other fun things.
Here she is getting the outfits in order before our big show.

Becca, putting each fashion show outfit in order before the models arrived.
Becca really helped us a lot, but her time here has already started influencing her steps in progressing her Fashion Career.  From seeing the blogs of other fashionistas, she was inspired to start her own blog.  Check it out here at http://www.beccainblack.blogspot.com/  Several of her posts include items from Flourish including the below outfit.  And, in general I think her experience really helped her see the inner workings of a fashion boutique and added to her resume.

Becca wearing a Flourish top and Flourish Seven Skinny Jeans.
And, before Becca left, I asked her to make up several polyvore outfits from Flourish clothing and accessories, such that I could share her styling with all of you!  Here's several of my favorites:

The Taylor Swift outfit (Becca loves her music and style!): top, necklace, jeans, clutch.
The Sweet Southwest Outfit: Dress new at Flourish!
Miss Patriotic Outfit: Dress and Bracelets from Flourish.
Mod Outfit: Dress and Shoulder Bag from Flourish.
So, with that, we bid Becca farewell for now...and we wish her much love and success.  May her life be filled with family, friends, faith, and fashion....and we hope she flourishes always:)

XOXO, Vanessa and the Flourish girls

Who doesn't love the iconic images of Marilyn Monroe, the flirty appeal of Breakfast at Tiffany's, and other retro favorites...I think we all have a little bit of glamour envy for the beautiful starlets of the past.  And, in fashion vintage/retro inspiration is especially prevalent right now.

I've Got a Sweet Tooth.... for Arm Candy!

If you have been spending any time lately on http://www.pinterest.com/ (which I lovingly call the rabbit hole as I tend to fall in for hours at a time), you will have most likely noticed by now that stacked bangles, bracelets, and watches are trending big time! I, myself, have been pinning them like mad!

At first I thought this trend was a little too youthful or grunge for my taste, but after seeing other fashionistas stacking up diamond bangles, rolex watches, and other beautiful pieces I realized that it's all in what you stack, so to speak:) This inspired me to bring in some beautiful pieces at http://www.flourishboutique.com/ so that all of you can play with the trend. Of course our bracelets and wrap pieces all have a Flourish twist on them...you know...sparkly, leopard, pink, etc!

So, you might be wondering how to master this new look...I have put together a collage from my favorite examples on pinterest (*all images in collage courtesy of pinterest). Check out some of my favorites:

And, then of course your next question is...and where can I collect these? Check out our fun styles here at Flourish: http://flourishboutique.com/jewelry/bracelets.html and check out a preview from our in store display featuring the arm candy trend!

Holiday Fashion Tips with a ....Flourish!

1. Red is back! For a couple of years it seemed kind of cliche to wear red to holiday parties and events...but as with all trends, it has cycled back through and you can safely plan to be the lady in red! See our dear customer and model, Sandy, below showing off a beautiful red wine ruffle top by Samuel Dong, as a great example!

2. The more sparkle, the better: Sequins especially are huge this season. Get a shell thats sequins or even a handbag but make sure to weave this irresistable trend into your holiday wardrobe. At Flourish we have tons of pretty glittery things!

3. Costume Jewelry: maybe its the recession that has people spending less on more, but whatever the reason the trend is for BIG and I mean big, bold jewelry. Rock it sister!

4. Black opaque tights: forget your mom's panty hose...wear dark, dark black tights with your little cocktail number...it's funky and fresh and we have some great tights in by Spanx right now that are sure to outlast all your other hosiery!

5. Hostess gift trends: scarves and fun sparkly watches are two of our favorite little gifts to recommend. How can you go wrong with these fun accessories...??!

MAJOR fall Must Haves at Flourish Boutique

Does anyone else think Rachel Zoe is, like, "Major"? Right?! We love her, here at Flourish! We get the biggest kick out of her antics, we love her advice on accessories in particular, and in general we just love her sense of fashion! So, it was with great joy that when I opened up a recent Zoe Report email, I saw she had recommended black quilty rainboots as one of her fall under $200 must haves! Why was I excited? Because I recommended basically the same thing to all of you:) The difference though: Rachel's idea of a bargain was getting these $175 Hunter rain boots....but my idea of a bargain, is our $39 version at Flourish. You can see the Hunter pair below and our pair to the right.

The Flourish "Quilty Pleasures" Boots, $39

So, if you have interest in getting our cute pair, so that you too can be MAJOR-ly in style this fall, lol, feel free to call FLOURISH at 574-277-PINK. We can ship them anywhere in the world for you!

New Affordable Denim Lines at Flourish!

We all wear jeans...we need them, we love them, we are always looking for the perfect pair...and when you find them you must jump on them! Well, the same goes for a boutique buyer....we are always on the hunt for the perfect jeans. I found one line/collection at a recent buying show. And then over the holidays I stumbled upon another line at a boutique in the south, where I was boutique researching while there visiting family:)

To me the perfect jeans are the following:
  • They fit great! The most important part by far! Jeans must fit and flatter...this causes many of us to pay a small fortune for pricey designer jeans, in the hopes that Citizens of Humanity, Seven for All Mankind, Hudson, or David Kahn know better how to make our tushes look cute and perky while somehow still making us look and feel skinny....this brings me to my next criteria...
  • to be truly perfect however, I feel that a denim line should NOT have to cost a fortune! Therefore I set out to get the look of a designer pair of jeans for the price of Levis! And I believe I have misssion accomplished...Introducing our two new lines: Divine Rights of Denim and Cello Jeans! Divine Rights of Denim run around $75 and Cello run around $67 for a pair.
  • Lastly, I believe that while basic jeans in dark washes are important and flattering, as a boutique we also need to offer specialty denim...denim with details and nuances that really set our customers apart. Therefore I selected these lines based on some of the details they deliver too...like a pair of Divine Rights that have little zippers at the ankle and a pair of Cello Jeans with artistic pockets and contrast stitching!
Want to know more about each line? Here is a little info! DRD is a line of jeans made at the same factory as other pricier designer lines...call it the Toyota/Lexus situation or whatever you like, but the bottom line is you can save some cash by getting a pair of these jeans made by the same company! Also, this line is partly designed and faced by Audrina from the Hills! Cello Jeans is less well known, but oh so cute! Cello was founded fairly recently but quickly became a leader in affordable, designer looking denim. They also make cute tops and velour tracksuits and things of that nature that you will find soon at Flourish and www.FlourishBoutique.com

Here are some pics...
